Los Angeles Valley College

Don't stop here. Transfer to Mount Saint Mary's and become unstoppable.

Why choose MSMU?

You made a great choice by starting your education at Los Angeles Valley College. Since 1947, the home of the Monarchs has prepared generations of students for four-year degree programs.

Finish your program at LAVC and continue your journey at a place that will propel you even further. That place is Mount Saint Mary's University, L.A.'s only women's university.

Here are the top five reasons why the Mount is the place for you:

  1. We're a top-rated university. Ranked number one for student outcomes by The New York Times and as the number five most transformative college by MONEY magazine.
  2. You've never met professors like these. Our student/faculty ratio is just 11:1. That means you'll work one-on-one with professors on projects like finding a cure for Alzheimer's or studying the effects of maternal care inequity.
  3. Learning doesn't happen in a bubble. You'll go outside the classroom for real-world experiences that'll prepare you for, well, anything.
  4. We've got 30+ programs to choose from. Pursue your interest. Go deep.
  5. We've made this high-powered degree super affordable. Transfer and you'll automatically get the Dean's Transfer Award. That's $10,000 and renewable every year. Because we don't think anything should stand in your way.

Mount admission counselor can answer best, but the short answer is, yes! Read on to learn more.

MSMU now accepts the general education (GE) transfer requirements of the UC and CSU.

If you’ve been taking a curriculum at LAVC that is transferrable to a California public university, your credits will also transfer to MSMU.

Completion of either the CSU General Education Breadth Requirements (CSU GE-Breadth) or Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) fulfills our LACE General Education requirements with the exception of the upper division Integrative Scholarship (6 units) and the Capstone (1-3 units) which may be fulfilled by the major Capstone requirement.
